Outside-In Application 2012-2013
ARE YOU SECRETLY A COMPOSER?
The Outside-In Program:
The Brooklyn Phil is looking for Brooklyn musicians interested in expanding their musical ideas by composing music for orchestra and string quartet.
The Outside-In program pairs non-orchestral composers with our Resident Composer-Mentor, Randy Woolf, and our Artistic Director, Alan Pierson. Randy will guide the Composer Fellows through the process of writing new string quartet and chamber orchestra music building on the musical styles and ideas of each fellow. The string quartet commissions will receive a world premiere performance in the spring of 2013.
Composers from diverse musical backgrounds including hip hop, electronica, world music, jazz, indie rock, etc. are encouraged to apply.
Past fellows have included Valerie Coleman-Page, Cristian Amigo, Darcy James Argue, Susan Oetgen, Elan Vytal, Ryan Brown, Natalie Elizabeth Weiss, Charlie Looker, Matt Mehlman, Tim Fite, Jeremiah Lockwood, and Corey Dargel.
